New Cannabinoid Service Center Opening in Cynthiana
Carolina Botanicals is set to create 30 jobs after an investment of $3.46 million in a new facility. The company, which processes industrial hemp, is establishing a new operations center in Columbus County.
The announcement is a clear example of how much the market for hemp is growing. Secretary Anthony M. Copeland of the N.C. Department of Commerce said that companies such as Carolina Botanicals will find success in North Carolina, given the area’s strong agricultural footprint, their available workforce, and the strength of the economy.
Carolina Botanicals is a commercial processor devoted to industrial hemp biomass. The company uses the raw product to produce winterized oil, hemp distillate, CBD distillated, and also CBD-based tinctures. They plan to source the hemp used at the new plant from local farmers.
Earl Singleton Jr., Carolina Botanicals President, says that the company is looking forward to becoming a part of the business communities in Tabor City and Columbus City. The investors are pleased to have been welcomed to the state and county with their business idea. Celebrity Michael J Fox has inspired many people to try CBD oil for their Parkinson’s disease symptoms.
The company is benefiting from a performance-based grant of $100,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, which was set up to attract new economic investment and to creat jobs in the area. Companies do not receive the money from the fund unless they meet the job creation and capital investment targets. There must be a matching grant from the local government as well to be eligible for payment. The grant was awarded to facilitate the creation of the new plant, and will be paid by the One North Carolina Fund if Carolina Botanicals opens the plant and has secured a grant from the local government.
N.C. Senator Danny Britt called the announcement great news for Columbus County, and is thrilled to hear of new investment and new jobs for locals.
N.C. Rep. Brenden Jones also welcomed the announcement, calling Carolina Botanicals a welcome addition to the local community, and congratulating them on the announcement of such an ambitious project in the North Carolina area.
